Pura Vida Hostel is located in Copacabana, about a block away from the beach (specifically Lifeguard Tower #5). The house sits at the beginning of the hill of Saint Roman (2nd house on the right), practically on the corner of Rua Sá Ferreira. We are very close to the main street of Copacabana, Avenida Nossa Senhora de Copacabana, and a close walk to all the main city bus stops as well as the metro stop, General Osório (exiting the metro via Rua Sá Ferriera). Being so close to the city’s main methods of transportation makes it very easy to get to all the most important parts of Rio de Janeiro like the city center and Maracanã (futbol stadium).    

 

Prime Location

 

When we say prime location, we mean it! We are situated between the best beaches of Rio de Janeiro: Copacabana, Arpoador, and Ipanema. In addition to the natural beauty of the landscape, these beaches are the most trendiest and traditional spots of the city. If you are not hitting the beach, there are lots of other leisure, nightlife, culture, shopping, and restaurant options.

 

Copacabana Beach

Just about one block (2 minute walk or 100 meters) separates the hostel from one of the world’s most famous beaches, Copacabana, which is also known as the ‘little princess of the ocean’. Be sure to stop by Copacabana Fort, an active military base open to the public. Take it from the locals, this is a great location to take some sweet pics of beautiful Copacabana beach and you can’t miss the cannon-like guns that were built to protect Copacabana in 1914.  

 

Arpoador Beach

Famous for its jaw-dropping sunset, quality waves (night surfs under stadium lights), and a statue of the maestro Tom Jobim, we are just a 10-15 minute walk from Arpoador Beach, also known as Arpex. Don’t forget to check out Diabo Beach (Devil’s Beach), which is just this little strip of beach that sits between Arpoador and Copacabana Fort. Take it from the locals, it’s a nice little beach spot and great for surfing too!

 

Ipanema Beach

Ipanema Beach is just south of Arpoador Beach and has so much to offer in regard to beauty, fashion, and music. You can find the most beautiful bodies in Rio between Lifeguard Towers #9 and #10. This beach is also world famous for its beach fashion and bossa nova music scene too. Take it from the locals, lots of great shopping to do here and be sure to go to the bar ‘Garota de Ipanema’, where the famous song ‘The Girl from Ipanema’ was masterminded by Antônio Carlos Jobim and Vinicius de Moraes in 1962.
