Built in the beginning of the last century as the Polish embassy of Brazil, the house of Pura Vida Hostel preserved its initial architecture, which is rarely seen nowadays. The castle-like house was influenced by designs that hold a classic sense of European beauty and decor. With stained glass windows, chandeliers, and amazing woodwork, the house is a fascinating fusion of Art Nouveau style and medieval European construction. These are just some of the details that make Pura Vida Hostel the only one of its kind in the state of Rio de Janeiro!

 

Our house is full of space inside and out. We have 17 different types of rooms, 7 collective dorms with various sizes and styles that can accommodate 4, 6, 8, 10, or 12 guests. For your convenience and security, each person is provided with a separate locker. We have 4 dorm rooms with access to our lovely veranda. We also have rooms for groups of 4 or 6 and we also have a female-only 10-bed dorm. All of our bathrooms are shared for collective dorm room guests.

 

We have 10 private chalets that are surrounded by our very green and lush garden of plants and flowers native to Brazil. The chalets are not only private, but very comfortable; they include a queen size bed, private bathroom, air-conditioning, and a veranda. These types of rooms are great for couples or groups of 3.

 

In addition to beautiful gardens, outside showers, a TV room, we have our outside deck bar, where we serve cold beer and delicious caipirinhas. At times we even do pizzas, burgers, and Brazilian barbecues.
